Feminist Press is Open to Submissions (Award: Book Publication)

Feminist Press is calling for manuscript submissions focusing on themes that ignite movements and social transformation.

Feminist Press is a small independent nonprofit publishing company founded in Baltimore, USA, in 1970, with a focus is to publish insurgent and marginalized voices from around the world, with a focus on contemporary and cutting-edge subjects that spark much-needed dialogue and move the feminist conversation forward.

They are now accepting full-length book manuscripts, including fiction, nonfiction, and anthologies! Therefore, if you are an eloquent writer, send them your work.

Eligibility Guidelines for Feminist Press Submissions

  1. The Press is open to manuscripts by writers from all over the globe.
  2. Activist Non-Fiction, Literary Fiction, Hybrid Memoirs and also Anthologies relevant to their intersectional and global feminist mission will be accepted. Therefore, you should learn how to write thematic statements for your piece.
  3. They currently do not publish poetry collections, drama/plays, doctoral dissertations, or literary criticism. 
  4. Writers can either submit their manuscripts directly to the press or go through an agent. However, manuscript submission is through the Feminist Press submittable page.
  5. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. If you’ve submitted your work to another publisher and decide to publish with them, please let the Press know to withdraw your manuscript from consideration by emailing at editor@feministpress.org.

  • Submit a PDF comprising of:
    • A synopsis of your work, including a brief explanation of why this submission is a good fit for the Press.
    • A short author bio, including anything you’ve published before and where they might find you on social media (if applicable).
    • A brief marketing plan outlining:
      •  your network,
      • your promotional experience and capacity,
      • and your ideas for positioning your work
    • At least three sample chapters (or 50 pages) of your work
  • Submissions must specifically be made through their submittable portal.
  • Forward all inquiries to: editor@feministpress.org.

Submissions must be made before January 3, 2024.
