The ANA / How to Submit

The ANA Opens Submissions for Fiction, Poetry, Essays, and Visual Art

The Ana has officially opened submissions for its May–June 2026 reading period, inviting writers and artists from around the world to share authentic, boundary-pushing work across multiple genres.

Known for its bold motto, “No Theme · Just Authenticity,” The Ana prioritizes voices from BIPOC, queer, and working-class communities while creating space for experimental and cross-genre storytelling.

Writers preparing submissions may also benefit from reading Best Writing Instruments Every Writer Should Have and Successful Writing Ideas to strengthen their creative process before submitting.

Writers may:

  • Submit up to three prose works
  • Send pieces individually
  • Submit works up to 4,000 words each

The publication welcomes literary work that experiments with form, voice, and storytelling while remaining emotionally honest and original.

  • Upload each poem separately
  • Use .docx format only

For poetry in translation, contributors must also include:

Visual artists may submit:

  • Up to five artworks
  • JPEG files only

The Ana also clearly states that it does not accept AI-generated artwork.

Important Submission Policies

Although contributors regain their rights after publication, they have to credit The Ana as the original place of publication.

The publication also reserves the right to reject or withdraw any work that promotes hate speech or discriminatory content.

How to Submit to the ANA

Submissions are currently open through Submittable and will remain open throughout May and June 2026.

Interested contributors can submit their work through the official submission portal.

Finally, do not forget that a well-edited and formatted submission not only boosts readability but also increases your chance of bagging an acceptance. Edit, submit, goodluck!
