Palimpsest Press Is Currently Accepting Submissions/ How To Submit (Pay: TBD)

Palimpsest Press, a Canadian publishing house, is committed to removing barriers for BIPOC, Deaf, and Disabled authors.

They have updated their submission guidelines to encourage year-round submissions from these communities, while also providing a specific submission window for all other authors.

Submission Guidelines For Palimpsest Press

 

Palimpsest Press accepts submissions for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Each genre has specific requirements outlined in their guidelines.

 

POETRY GUIDELINES

 

  • Please submit a cover letter.
  • Please submit a publishing history.
  • Full manuscript in .doc, .docx, or pdf.
  • Poetry collections should be over 50 pages.

NONFICTION GUIDELINES

 

  • Please submit a cover letter.
  • Please submit a publishing history.
  • Full manuscript in .doc, .docx, or pdf.
  • Nonfiction manuscripts have no page number requirement.

FICTION GUIDELINES

 

THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING WORKS OF SHORT FICTION (novella/short story collections). Click here for short stories submissions.

THEY DO NOT PUBLISH HISTORICAL FICTION.

STEP ONE: cover letter & sample pages

  • Please submit a cover letter that includes a description of the work (no more than one page).
  • Please submit a list of publications (all genres).
  • Please send an up to 4-page writing sample. Attach in a .pdf.
  • Please send to aimee(at)palimpsestpress.ca.

 

STEP TWO: manuscript

  • After we receive your cover letter, if they’d like to read more, they will let you know, and then you can send your full manuscript.
  • Fiction manuscripts have no page requirement.
  • Please double space the manuscript.
  • File formats – .doc, .docx, .pdf
  • Please send manuscript to aimee(at)palimpsestpress.ca.

 

What They Want

 

  • Palimpsest Press highly encourages submissions from women, Black authors, writers of color, Indigenous writers, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and Deaf/Disabled writers.
  • They are currently seeking literary fiction, poetry collections over 50 pages, and nonfiction manuscripts from BIPOC, Deaf, and Disabled authors.

 

What They Don’t Want

 

  • They do not accept short fiction works, including novella/short story collections, and historical fiction.
  • Additionally, they do not publish AI-generated work.

Please include “Year-round Submission” in the email subject line if you submit outside of their designated February 1st – March 31st submission period. *

 

Eligibility Criteria For Palimpsest Press 

 

Palimpsest Press is currently only accepting work from Canadian authors.

Authors who identify as BIPOC, Deaf, or Disabled are encouraged to submit year-round, while submissions from other authors are only accepted during the designated February 1st – March 31st submission period.

 

Author Rights

 

Palimpsest Press values high-quality editions and expects authors to cooperate in the promotion of their work. They encourage authors to network and participate in setting up readings, interviews, and sending out review copies. Authors retain their rights and are expected to be involved in the publication process.

 

Payment

Deadline
