The ANA / How to Submit
The ANA Opens Submissions for Fiction, Poetry, Essays, and Visual Art
The Ana has officially opened submissions for its May–June 2026 reading period, inviting writers and artists from around the world to share authentic, boundary-pushing work across multiple genres.
Known for its bold motto, “No Theme · Just Authenticity,” The Ana prioritizes voices from BIPOC, queer, and working-class communities while creating space for experimental and cross-genre storytelling.

What the ANA is accepting
Fiction, Non-fiction, Essays, and Cross-genre Literature
Writers may:
- Submit up to three prose works
- Send pieces individually
- Submit works up to 4,000 words each
- Upload submissions only in
.docxformat
The publication welcomes literary work that experiments with form, voice, and storytelling while remaining emotionally honest and original.
Poetry and Poetry in Translation
Poets can:
- Submit up to three poems
- Upload each poem separately
- Use
.docxformat only
For poetry in translation, contributors must also include:
- The original poem
- Context for the translation
Visual Art Submissions
Visual artists may submit:
- Up to five artworks
- JPEG files only
The Ana also clearly states that it does not accept AI-generated artwork.
Important Submission Policies
Although contributors regain their rights after publication, they have to credit The Ana as the original place of publication.
The publication also reserves the right to reject or withdraw any work that promotes hate speech or discriminatory content.
How to Submit to the ANA
Submissions are currently open through Submittable and will remain open throughout May and June 2026.
Interested contributors can submit their work through the official submission portal.
