The Next Narrative Africa Fund (Up to $20,000)

The Next Narrative Africa Fund Offers Up to $20,000+ in Grants for African-Led TV, Film & Media Projects

Are you a storyteller with a bold vision for screen? Do you have a commercially viable idea for a TV or film project that centers African experiences and has global appeal? The Next Narrative Africa Fund (NNAF) is now accepting submissions for funding. The deadline to apply is August 1, 2025.

Backed by a $40 million content and media fund, NNAF is designed to support high-impact audio-visual projects that not only entertain but also shift narratives about Africa and its diaspora on the global stage.

What Does the Next Narrative Africa Fund Support?

NNAF offers both development grants and equity investments to support African and African-diasporan creatives. The fund targets:

  • TV, film, and audio-visual content projects
  • Projects with budgets ranging from $1 million to $5+ million
  • Narratives with global distribution potential
  • Initiatives centered around key social themes:
gender and racial equity, democracy, climate, health, and inclusive economic growth

Projects must ensure:

  • At least 50% of production occurs in Africa
  • African or African-diasporan creatives are in leadership roles
  • Capacity-building opportunities for youth and women (e.g., internships, apprenticeships)

Note: While NNAF generally does not fund documentaries, exceptions can be made for those with a compelling commercial angle.

Funding Available

  • Grants starting from $20,000 for concept-stage development
  • Equity investments for projects in advanced stages of production
  • Equity into infrastructure that supports Africa’s creative economy
