Oxbelly Writers Fellowship: Call For Submissions For 2024 Fiction Writers Program

The Fiction Writers Program of the Oxbelly Retreat is a unique opportunity for emerging writers to immerse themselves in a week of literary exploration and creative exchange.

This is an open call to Greek and International applicants, emerging fiction writers, 18 and over to join them in Greece for a week of literary immersion, creative exchange, and the opportunity to elevate your craft.

The Fiction Writers Program aims to support ten emerging fiction writers committed to elevating their craft and contributing to intercultural storytelling dialogues.

They are seeking original, engaging, and evocative work that experiments with form and showcases literary quality. The program is led by the esteemed Chigozie Obioma, an accomplished author and Program Director.

Oxbelly Writers Fellowship Program Guidelines

• You are invited to join them at the picturesque Costa Navarino in historic Messinia, Greece, from June 22 to June 30, 2024, for eight days of workshops, masterclasses, and a mini-residence experience.
• At the Oxbelly Writers Fellowship, Fellows will attend interdisciplinary programming in the evenings – mostly a curated series of masterclasses exploring the craft of writing, readings, screenings and panel discussions that cut across multiple mediums.
• They will also have the space and opportunity to widen their interests through interactions with experts from other creative sectors and with fellows from Oxbelly Screenwriters and Episodic Writers program, which run concurrently.
• The second half offers a mini-residence for the fellows to soak in the scenic and peaceful atmosphere of Costa Navarino and produce work unhindered by Retreat obligations.
• The venue [Costa Navarino] offers a transformative environment, providing the perfect backdrop for creativity and collaboration.
• The submitted work should not have been published before, both online and in print. You yourself may be a published writer.
• Submit your refined and polished work reflecting your truest potential as a writer. They welcome exceptional narratives in all genres.

Date And Submission Deadline

• Date of the event is on June 22 to 30, 2024.
• The application deadline is on January 19, 2024, at 11:59 pm EET.

Payment and Expenses

There is no application fee, and all expenses for fellows are covered. This includes workshops, accommodation, and meals.

Visa Process for International Applicants

They assist in providing necessary documents, and selected fellows must apply for visas at their respective Greek consulate/embassies.
