Memezine Kakistocracy Issue | How to Submit ($200)

Submit to MEMEZINE’s KAKISTOCRACY Issue: Urgent Words Wanted

Memezine is back with a fiery new call: KAKISTOCRACY. Submissions are open May 10–June 21, 2025, and they’re looking for writing and art that meets the moment with urgency, boldness, and a sense of humor or fury—or both.

Deadline: Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT
Pay: A shared pot (currently $200) split among up to 10 selected contributors
Fee: Free to submit
Submit via Duosuma: Submit here

What is KAKISTOCRACY?

Guest edited by Rachel Lauren Myers and Thom Eichelberger-Young (T E-Y) and co-sponsored by Blue Bag Press, this issue is a direct response to the dystopian absurdities of our time. If you have work that howls back at corruption, inequity, or societal unraveling—this call is for you.

Think fire. Also, think chaos. Think poetry that melts Teslas and prose that ignites systems. In the words of Joe Hall:

“if guerilla war must be fought w/infinite patience
if for gratuitous wrong piled on gratuitous wrong, there
must be accountability…”

What They’re Looking For

Memezine accepts fiction, nonfiction, poetry, visual art, and multimedia, and they’re hungry for:

  • Urgent, unflinching, or hilarious writing
  • Work that addresses injustice, failure, or resistance
  • Previously uncurated work only (not published before)
  • A maximum of 3 pieces per submission (in one file)

Simultaneous submissions? Fine!
AI-generated content? Absolutely not.
Reprints? Not for this call.

For all file types accepted and full guidelines, visit the Duosuma submission portal.

Timeline

  • Submissions Close: June 21, 2025
  • Issue Release Goal: July 4, 2025

Payment

Memezine is committed to paying contributors. The current pot is $200, split evenly among the accepted artists. You can contribute to this pool through the optional tip jar during submission. All tip money goes directly to contributors—not a cent kept.
