Submission Guidelines For The Fixi Novo Malaysian Novel Contest
- Submissions should be novels primarily in English, spanning 50,000 to 70,000 words.
- While all genres are accepted, entries in the Crime genre are excluded due to previous winners hailing from this category.
- Preference is given to stories set in Malaysia, offering readers a glimpse into the diverse cultural milieu of the nation.
- Interested writers are required to submit a review of any of the 15 Fixi Novo books still in print. The review should be comprised of a minimum of 200 words.
- This review should highlight aspects liked or disliked about the chosen book.
- Submissions must be sent as a Word attachment or include a personal Goodreads link for the review.
- The full manuscript and synopsis should be in Microsoft Word format and emailed to [email protected] by April 30, 2024.
- Writers have the liberty to choose any font or spacing for their submissions. This allows individualized presentation styles that complement the narrative voice and aesthetic of their work.
- While entries will be publicly listed online with the title of the manuscript, the identities of the writers will remain confidential until the winner is announced.

Eligibility Criteria
The contest welcomes entries from Malaysian citizens or residents of all backgrounds. Entries are welcomed regardless of age, gender, sexuality, political affiliation, socioeconomic status, or height.
Author Rights
The copyright of all entries belongs to the respective writers. Even after undergoing editing and proofreading in consultation with the publisher, the final copyright to the work remains with the author.
The winning manuscript will be published by Fixi Novo. The author will receive standard royalties of 10% of the sales price for every copy sold after publication.
Deadline and Announcement
1. Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by April 30, 2024, to be considered for the contest.
2. Winner Announcement: The winner of the 4th Fixi Novo Malaysian Novel Contest will be unveiled by July 31, 2024. The publication of the winning novel is slated for December 2024, allowing ample time for editing and production.
Prize
The winner will be awarded a prize of RM1,500 in addition to standard royalties for book sales.
