Ake Book Festival
The theme of the 8th edition of Ake Arts and Book Festival is Black Magic. Ake wants to explore the expansion of black imagination and black consciousness.
AkeFest2020 will be full of much more creativity than one has ever seen before.
Bringing to light the mythologies and belief systems that have sustained Africa and her Diaspora through years of disruption and change.
They seek to celebrate the magic of black people as well as notions of black excellence. Their literary focus will be children’s writing and political memoirs.
Ake Review has recently announced the commencement of its annual competition.
Ake Review is the annual publication of the Ake Arts and Book Festival.
The publication has began accepting submissions for their 2020 edition. The Ake Book Festival is said to held online this year.
The 2020 Ake Arts and Book Festival is themed “African Time.”
Writers are invited to submit poetry, fiction, non-fiction and visual art exploring the theme.
The editors are interested in submissions of:
*Poetry – up to 4 poems.
*Prose – up to 4,000 words.
* Non-fiction – up to 2,000 words.
*Visual Art – high resolution JPEG.
How to Submit:
*Submissions should be sent as attachments in Word (or JPEG for Visual Art) through email.
*The subject title of your submission should be: AR submissions.
*Include a Writer/Artist bio of up to 70 words.
*One submission per person.
*All submissions must be previously unpublished.
*Submissions should be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org
*The deadline is July 17.
*Creatives whose work are accepted for the journal will receive two complimentary copies and a modest honorarium.
