A Listening Session : Call for Entries About Women of Hip Hop and Reggaeton
A Listening Session: Honoring the Women Behind Hip Hop and Reggaeton
Deadline: Rolling | Format: Zine (Single Issue)
Submit via Email: womenswork.listening@gmail.com
A Listening Session is a new zine project seeking contributions that celebrate, document, and reflect on the women whose labor, artistry, and vision have shaped Hip Hop and Reggaeton from behind the scenes and in the spotlight.
From Video Girls to DJs, from music journalists and stylists to choreographers, this zine will be a living archive of the countless women—named and unnamed—whose work built the culture.
What a Listening Session is Looking For
- Interviews with women behind the music
- Essays and personal reflections
- Poems on the influence of music, identity, and movement
- Music ephemera: flyers, photos, posters, liner notes, etc.
Edited by writers Danielle A. Jackson and Carina del Valle Schorske, A Listening Session is supported by Critical Minded and Aster(ix) Journal.
This is more than a call for nostalgia—it’s a call for record-keeping, for centering women’s work in the archives of sound and culture. Whether you danced in the background or documented the moment, they want to hear from you.
