Channel Magazine: Issue 14 (How to Submit + Payment)

Submissions Open for Channel Issue 14 — Deadline: 20 November

Submissions for Channel Issue 14 are now open until 20 November, and the editors are excited to read new work from writers and artists around the world.

Channel is a literary journal committed to nurturing writing that deepens the connections between humans and the natural world. Like the word itself suggests, a “channel” is a passageway—carrying water, signals, or spirit from one place to another. This journal exists to create that same kind of passage for creative ideas about nature, ecology, and environment in all their complexity.

The journal publishes two print issues each year, usually released in April and October, featuring poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Additional essays and commentary appear regularly on the Channel blog.

What Channel Publishes

Channel publishes new, previously unpublished work that engages meaningfully with the natural world. The editors welcome pieces that speak directly of landscapes and ecological relationships and also those that use nature as metaphor, setting, or structural framework.

Writers may find the following resources helpful while preparing their submissions:

Work may be submitted in English or Irish, and Irish-language pieces may be published bilingually with translations provided by the journal’s Irish Language Editor.

Channel welcomes international submissions, including translations. The Channel arranges rights and payment with the person who submitted the translated work.

There are no strict length limits, though prose over 6000 words and poems over 300 lines are unlikely to fit into the print issue.
