Alliance Française Lagos Open Call for Creatives 2026

Alliance Française Lagos has opened submissions for its 2026 Open Call for Creatives, inviting bold, original, and socially conscious projects for its upcoming cultural programming. The initiative seeks to promote cultural exchange, gender equality, digital innovation, and creative diversity across Lagos’ vibrant artistic community.

Application Window: October 1–31, 2025

Exhibition Space: Alliance Française Lagos / Mike Adenuga Centre (Ikoyi) and Alliance Française Lagos (Ikeja)

Eligibility: Open to Lagos-, French-, and Francophone-based artists and cultural practitioners. International creatives may apply if willing to self-fund travel and showcase in Lagos.

Key Details

They encourage submissions across four major categories:

  • Performing Arts: concerts, theatre plays, dance, comedy, workshops, etc.
  • Visual Arts: exhibitions, workshops, and installations.
  • Cinema: film screenings, documentaries, shorts, animation, and film workshops.
  • Library & Literature: book launches, readings, clubs, and writing workshops.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted between January and February 2026 for project meetings—an essential part of the final selection phase. Successful creatives will receive confirmation via email, while unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.

All selected participants must register as members of AFL for the year. Solo projects may be grouped based on programming needs, and submissions that fail to follow the official guidelines will not be reviewed.

How Alliance Française Lagos Fosters Creative Growth

Through this open call, they continue their mission to build cultural bridges and strengthen Nigeria’s creative ecosystem. The initiative empowers artists to experiment, collaborate, and engage audiences with meaningful narratives that celebrate both local and global perspectives.

For creatives developing their storytelling and performance craft, exploring resources like The Art of Character Development in Anime, Games, and Books can help refine ideas for multidisciplinary projects. Likewise, Achieving Satisfying Closure in TV Series offers valuable insights for creators seeking to design compelling conclusions in visual and narrative works.

Application Criteria

Alliance Française Lagos will assess proposals based on:

  1. Coherence, creativity, and artistic quality.
  2. Alignment with AF Lagos’ cultural and social objectives.
  3. Adherence to the application guidelines.

Projects that encourage collaboration, innovation, and community engagement will receive priority consideration.
