- Location: Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village and Resort, Maitama Extension, Abuja, Nigeria
- Duration: 4 weeks (with optional 2-week extension at your own cost)
Financial Benefits of the Ken Saro-Wiwa International Writers’ Residency Programme
Selected residents will receive the following:
- ₦15,000 weekly stipend for the 4-week program
- ₦100,000 transportation grant for Nigerian-based participants
- ₦200,000 transportation grant for international participants (African writers living outside Nigeria)
- Accommodation and writing space provided at the resort
This totals a base stipend of ₦60,000 for the residency period, plus up to ₦200,000 in travel support—making this one of the few fully funded residencies that values both your time and your travel.

Application Requirements for the Ken Saro-Wiwa International Writers’ Residency Programme
- At least one published work (book or excerpts in a reputable platform)
- Proof of African nationality and current residence on the continent
- A 500–750-word writing sample from your work-in-progress (or 5 poems for poets)
- A 500-word statement of purpose outlining your goals for the residency
- A 2-page résumé and a 1-page literary profile or portfolio
- Two one-page letters of recommendation
