Sarraounia Prize for Young Adult Fiction (Prize: €1,000) / How To Apply

Writers are invited to send in their entries for the Sarraounia Prize for Young Adult Fiction.  Every two years, a writer will be awarded the Sarraounia Prize for the best unpublished fiction for young adults. Entries can be written in English, French or Hausa.

The prize is being organized by The Arts & Culture programme at Abdou Moumouni University in Niger and the Senegalese publishing house, Amalion.

Deadline for submission is September 30th, 2019.

Eligibility

  •   The prize is open to African authors and illustrators  who live in Africa
  • Minors must obtain a written authorization from their parent9s0 or guardian(s)
  • Only one entry per participant. However, collaborations between illustrators and writers are allowed.
  • Previously published work will not be accepted

Prize and awards:

The overall winner will get:

  • A cash prize of 1,000 euros,
  • A book deal and contract from Amalion and its partners from May 2020.
