Oregon Literary Fellowships ($10,000)
Oregon Literary Fellowships 2027 Offer Up to $10,000 to Oregon Writers
Literary Arts is accepting applications for the 2027 Oregon Literary Fellowships, offering financial support and recognition to eligible writers across several literary genres.
The fellowships are open to Oregon residents writing poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, drama (including screenplays), and young readers literature.
Fellowship Awards
Applicants can receive an Oregon Literary Fellowship worth $4,000. Writers may also apply for the Oregon Literary Career Fellowship, which awards $10,000. Applicants for the Career Fellowship will automatically be considered for the $4,000 Oregon Literary Fellowship as well.

Eligibility Requirements for the Oregon Literary Fellowships
Applicants must:
- Be full-time residents of Oregon with an Oregon address serving as their legal residence
- Apply in only one genre
- Not currently be enrolled in a creative degree-bearing programme, either part-time or full-time
- Not have received a fellowship from Literary Arts between 2021 and 2025
The Swails/Monroe Fiction Fellowship is available to eligible fiction applicants who have been Oregon residents for five full years before the application deadline. The Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship is available to applicants who have been Oregon residents for at least one year.

Applicants may apply in one of the following categories:
- Poetry
- Fiction
- Literary nonfiction
- Drama, including screenplays
- Young readers literature

Application Requirements for the Oregon Literary Fellowships
All applicants must submit:
- A brief biographical statement of 100 words or less
- A writing sample in PDF format
- The applicant’s name on every page of the writing sample
Applicants for the Oregon Literary Career Fellowship must also submit:
- A one-page, double-spaced Artist’s Statement
- A one-page, double-spaced Impact Statement
The Artist’s Statement should introduce the writer’s work and may discuss their development, reasons for writing, influences, and inspirations.
The Impact Statement should explain how the award would affect the applicant, their work, and their writing practice, including how the funding would be used.
The writing sample guidelines have changed from the previous year, so applicants should carefully review the 2027 guidelines before submitting their work.
