Tebere Arts Foundation’s Emerging Artists Program: A 12-Month Intensive Lab for Rising Women Theatre Creators

The Tebere Arts Foundation’s Emerging Artists Program is now accepting applications for its 2024/2025 cohort. This immersive, year-long intensive lab is designed exclusively for women artists looking to deepen their craft in theatre, film, and performance. Based primarily at the Ndere Cultural Centre in Uganda, the program offers a rare opportunity to work closely with industry professionals, gain international exposure, and grow from an emerging artist into a mid-career creative.

Eligibility for the Emerging Artists Program

To be eligible for the Program, applicants must:

  • Identify as women
  • Be involved in theatre, film, or other performing arts
  • Be available for full-time participation from July 2025 to July 2026
  • Reside in or be able to relocate to Uganda for the program duration
  • Applicants must commit to in-person attendance at Ndere Cultural centre (no remote participation is allowed)

 

Requirements for the Emerging Artists Program

Applicants for the Program must submit:

  • A completed application form with basic personal information
  • A brief background statement on your experience in theatre or performing arts
  • Your areas of artistic interest (e.g. playwriting, directing, set design, acting)
  • A short biography (max. 200 words)

  • Contact details for your next of kin
  • Links to your website and/or social media profiles
  • Optional: Affiliated organizations or groups
