Literary Icon, Buchi Emecheta Dies At 72

Joys Of MotherhoodI’m still in shock. I don’t even have the words to compose a befitting ode to this literary icon, who was famous for her novel, Joys of motherhood.

She was also the author of Second-Class Citizen (1974), The Bride Price (1976) and The Slave Girl (1977) among others was born on 21 July 1944, in Lagos, Nigeria, toWestern Igbo parents, Alice (Okwuekwuhe) Emecheta and Jeremy Nwabudinke. Both of her parents hailed from Ibuzo, Delta State, Nigeria.
